In October, students learned about drawing people and facial expressions. Then, they were invited to create portraits for the First Annual Community Altar! This collaboration between Escuela and the Harwood Art Center was installed outdoors on “The Roving Table,” an installation created by Women and Creativity in 2016. The effort was inspired by traditions of honoring the dead, particularly Dia de Muertos. In preparation for the installation students created portraits of loved ones (pets, family, or personal heros) who had passed.
